  1. Dear Michael,

Your story was amazing! …In my opinion, the situation that you describe it was very inspirational, because most of us, we had felt depress or mentally exceeded in some moment of the life, especially in this years, when we work everyday a lot and when we’ve a very short time to take care for our own families. So I am thankful to I had red your publication.

In the other hand, In my country (Chile), the depressive illnesses had been too common in the last 10 years, in fact, this diseases won the first place in the medical leave, so for the autorities the situation it’s worrying for them and for all the population.

Now, In my case I had suffered depression in one moment in my life, so I had to go to the psychologist and at the same time, complement the therapy with reiki, Bach’s Flowers and activities that make me feel happy, like playing the guitar and sing.

    And that’s it!
    See you soon,
    C. S.

  2. Dear Kristle,

I read your story of copping with anxiety and I would say you have an inspirational way of facing life. I hope by the time I graduate I will have accepted my flaws like you did.

While reading your story a lot of personal experiences came to mind. In Chile you must do the PSU if you want to go to university. My friends and I study for the PSU for almost a year, and during that time we had countless anxiety related problems. We needed to surpass those crises in order to focus and learn what we had to. We had some tricks too, for instance, we would dance out whenever someone got to the breaking point before a panic attack. In that way we didn't allow accumulation of anxiety took over our minds.

Hope to read more about your story soon.
    All the best,

    Ester Prado

  3. Dear L.A Nicholson,

When I was done reading your story I couldn't believe it ended that way. Even though you were trapped in, what seemed, and endless dark tunnel, you and all the people that helped you were able to end with this suffering and gave you your happiness back.

My favorite part about your story is how you encourage people who's suffering too to be strong and don't give up on life. Everything passes and eventually, you get your life back. These advices would be really helpful for everyone here in Chile, who have to face daily struggles with their families, jobs, or even with themselves.

I personally haven't experienced anything similar, but I can relate to your story because my brother went through something similar last year. Thank God, he was able to overcome this situation too, with help from experts and our family.

    Best wishes,
    Clemente

  4. Dear Kristie
I am schocked, your way to deal the illness is inspirational to many people, including me. You have never give you up, you have cried a lot because of your condition and look at you now, you are world champion. Your tenacity are amazing, you are a example for many others gymnastics and not only for them, you are example to everyone, other athletes and common people and students like me. Athletes in Chile maybe they dont have ilnesses like yours or we do not know it, but they i think that the most important is your tenacity, here the athletes don't have support so they usually give up and work in another thing.
I haven’t managed this kind of situation before, if i was you, i would keep trying to get over the ilness for a while, but if i couldn’t i would maybe give up.

Hi, currently I am studying in Santiago (Chile). I read your story and I think that it’s amazing. I don`t think that because you are a world champion since many times that is related whit the skills that you have when you born. I think that because I know for my own experience that it´s really hard make something in front of many people when you have panic attacks. Meanwhile, is not only me if not that many people have problems to play a match or make a presentation in the university, and I believe that your story it`s inspirational for everybody. In my particular case, I just stop thinking what others think of me, it`s difficult but possible. Finally, if I were in your position I would have done the same than you.

  7. Dear michel

I enjoyed to read about your experience of your life in depression.
I believe that you did a good Job when you sharing your history with other people, because you teach for people that in the life we have problems, but we can overcome them with courage and help from other.

Your situation reminds me of a good friend from Chile. He had depression for personal problems, but he was strong and he could win.

I saw my life so pessimistic In one oportunity, but my solution was to leave everything and go to read books of Cs Lewis in the south of Chile.

I liked your history because you accept your humanity, someone who is not perfect, but someone with virtues.

    All the best.

  8. Dear L.A Nicholson:

I write this letter to tell you that I really liked your story life. I considered your story a very good example of power to overcoming the problems of the life. That the reason that is the reason that makes good your story, that despite all your bad times in different parts of your life, you were able to grow as a person. In my country your experiencie is very common, because we live in a very stressfull lifestyle. Is normal to see adults or young people who feeling bad with theirs lifes, and taked bad decisions. In my experience, I ever feld like you before, but I think in your situacion. In my experience, I never felt like you, but I think in your situation I could overcome the problems with my family support, because in general when I have bad days or year, I find happiness in my parents to overcome the problems. So, in this kind of experience, I think the best idea is lean on the people who love you and also find something that makes you feel passionate...

Thanks for tell us your story.

    All the best,

    Isidora Torres.

  9. Dear M. Reagan Jr:

Mister, what you wrote is the ugly true that most of people prefers to keep in secret instead of look for help. And you did it! with shame at first, but you realized that it will help you. I used to deal with this at mornings, seeing people's faces looking exausted because of their stressful life. I do not blame them, because I think is the modern life what keeps you anxious and that increase depression. I went to therapy once, and nothing happened, so then I try with yoga and now I feel great. Also I manage myself to told my friends about my situation and they really helped. You could have tried that too.
I would like to ask you about how you managed the therapy sesion and what you learn from there.
I hope to hear more about you.

    Best wishes,

    Macarena Ramírez

  11. Mr. Reagan jR.

Many people worldwide do not like to share their issues with others, especially in individualistic societies like we have in Chile. They prefer to hide their problems to avoid feeling weak and vulnerable. The elderly struggle the most, because they live alone and cannot rely on others.

I strongly believe that people with mental illness can be treated better when they understand more about themselves. It is inspiring to know that people believe in the healing power of psychology. However, if I were you, I would have talked to my friends and family sooner since it is always helpful to have someone to support you and listen to your problems.

Finally, I would like to thank you for standing up and sharing your experience, which will inspire people to ask for help.

    All the Best,
    Gustavo Valenzuela.

  12. Dear Kristle:

Your story is very inspiring because incite to the people to keep fighting, and strive to achieve dreams, despite possible difficulties and shortcomings they may have. In this sense your case allows us to observe as through the daily work is possible to overcome certain difficulties, how everything depend on oneself.

On the other hand your story reminded me of the case of Daniela García the chilean, who fell on the railroad tracks, but yet she chose to live...

With regard to the stories described above, I can say that maybe in my life I haven't suffered such serious things as the above cases, but yes I have had to work my fears, and overcome myself. For this I think that your case is a good example of what we should all do when we can't do something that we like.

    Take care,
    Catalina Vera

  13. Dear Michael ,
When I read his testimony , he had many memories of my life. In my family, there are many people who have depression. The depressive experience makes life becomes even more difficult.
I like a lot when I read about help books , because I thought it did not help . And in his case it was very important for recovery.
Stories like yours make me think that there are multiple ways to be happy . I suggest that everyone is different and there are many different paths to recovery.
I hope to continue sharing their experiences , as they may be useful to more people.
    Take care,
    Fernanda

  14. Dear L.A Nicholson:

I read your story and feel like it does not surprise me, because it is a really familiar story. More that I would like to.
What contemporary medicine has called "mental disorder" is supposed to be a pathological condition, and it is based on an abnormal social behaviour (in the case of anxiety, for example). However, this has became something usual, even something normal. The number of people who suffer from deppresion or anxiety is increasing through the years.

Far from wanting to be an alarmist, I think this situation can inspire us to analyze ourselves, and accepting the fact that being sensible or empathetic should not be seen as something rare or even dangerous. I think people who are "mental disordered" are the most strong people I know, the most conscious ones, and the most creative ones, despite the widespread notion of "the sick minded".
Indeed, what does not kill you makes you stronger.

    Best wishes,

    Irina.

  15. Dear Kristle
I read your history and I feel very represented because I am very anxious, so your history is a real inspiration for me and I hope that it will be an inspiration for more people. People think bad things about their flaws, however, you show we that we need use these to be more stronger.

I thing very much young people have anxiety and they don’t ask for help, maybe in work, practicing sport, study or some other things, so, I think that we learn with your history that we need survey our causes of anxiety and to change habits that cause these.

For me, your history motivate me to fight with the anxiety cause for the study and thus, I would finish my professional career.

    Best regards

  16. Dear Mr. Reagan
I have read your letter, and for one second I felt like you. Many illnesses are silent, for example depression, stress, or other mental illness. People do not see the effects and you do not felt as an ill. Only close people; your family, friends or couple can note that you are not the same person. This is why, you must trust in people around you. I think that the key support and while, the best medicine is the family. After this you can go to the doctor, buy remedies or read self-help books, and begin your therapy, but all with your close people as support. In summary, you should listen your body, your feelings, and when something is wrong, help yourself with your family and friends, for go on.

  17. Dear Michael E. Reagan, Jr.
hopping you are doing good in your life.
I read your letter and I think that was very valuable your decision to look for profesional help by yourself. Not very people are capable to admit that they can not solve their problem by themself and I think that this is very admirable.
Do You know that in Chile the drepression is a common problem around the people? but nobody feel it like a real problem so they dont look for help, thinking that they can solve it by their own. Also they think that psicoterapy is for crazy people. We really need a change of mind.
About your way to get out of the situation, I Agree with you that our life is not chaper, but we always have to invest to get better.
In my I will spend more time instead of money, doing more things that change my life, like sports, hang out with friend to see the life more ooptimist
